ADI Studio created 96 exclusively designed bedrooms in this 5 star Country House Hotel Estate incorporating luxury Spa and Pool facilities and a 400+ seat function room. Manicured walled gardens surround the 19th century estate with forested lakeside walks. As the castle was a Grade II listed building, ADI Studio designed sympathetically to the historical elements of the build whilst keeping within the allocated budget and interiors concept.
We worked closely with Heritage Consultant Architects Caroline Dickson and HP&P Architects to transform the castle ruin into a timeless destination which has been recognized by a number of renowned travel companies including Conde Nast as one of ‘The Hot Hotels of 2008’, ‘Best World Country House Hotel for the past 5 consecutive years and ‘Best Irish Wedding Venue 2009’. It is still winning awards today, earning a Conde Nast Gold List of places to stay 2014. Traditional timber detailing salvaged from historical archives were recreated by the best craftsmen. A refined country house colour palate and creative use of natural materials guaranteed the success of this 19th century country house. Also within the walled grounds a 1200 sqm Pool and Spa annex, built in the footprint of the original glass house. Influences of the original glazed structure are incorporated into the new building design. Through clever interior finishes we achieved a seamless flow between the historic castle through to the newly built bedroom and conference wings retaining a sense of history and character throughout.
