Mount Falcon Country House Hotel
Mount Falcon Country House Hotel, Co. Mayo
Designed in 1872 by the architect James Franklin Fuller, who also designed Ashford Castle, the church at Kylemore Abbey and Farmleigh House, this house had managed to retain a lot of the original woodwork and detailing.
We were commissioned to refurbish and create a relaxed and inviting Country House Estate on the banks of the river Moy in Co. Mayo. Our brief was to design a variety of different areas all with their own identity whilst taking our design direction from the existing manor house. The Estate included; 122 new and refurbished bedrooms (including self catering cottages), informal lounges, bars, a large restaurant within the original kitchen, function room, meeting rooms and infinity pool.
By designing elegant and understated interiors and by choosing the highest quality marbles, fabrics and timber, ADI Studio created a tranquil historical destination which greatly compliments the surrounding wooded estate and original house.
Full height glazing surrounds the new pool giving it an infinity effect into the woodland outside. Water features & jets give an exciting sense of movement to the bespoke mosaic falcon on the base of the pool.
It was an important aesthetic to carry the history of the house throughout the estate and at the same time refurbishing the castle to reflect its former splendour subtly incorporating some essential modern amenities. Awarded AA Hotel of the year 2009/2010 and IGTOA Boutique Hotel of the Year 2011.
